Tallgrass is unique because it is powered by people who found freedom here. Nearly four hundred volunteers show up each year to share their time, experience, strength, and hope. Many are Tallgrass alumni. Others are members of the local recovery community who simply want to help the next person find the same peace they found.
This network of mentors, volunteers, alumni, staff, and families creates an atmosphere of safety and belonging that guests feel the moment they arrive. There is no judgment in our halls. Only compassion, honesty, and a deep belief that recovery is possible for everyone.
Every member of the Tallgrass staff is actively living in recovery. They have sponsors, home groups, service commitments, and a spiritual practice. Their understanding does not come from textbooks. It comes from lived experience, humility, and gratitude for the life they now have.
This makes Tallgrass different from traditional treatment centers. We are not teaching theories. We are offering a path that has already worked for thousands of people, including us.
Guests learn to trust the process because they can see it working in the lives of the people guiding them.
Tallgrass began with one goal and still holds true to it today. Provide a clear, spiritually based 12 step solution and surround guests with a community that supports long term recovery. With more than 60 percent of our alumni remaining sober, the results speak for themselves.
Families describe Tallgrass as the place where their loved one finally changed. Guests describe it as the first time they felt hope. Volunteers often say that serving at Tallgrass strengthens their own recovery.
No matter how someone arrives here, they leave knowing they are part of something bigger than themselves. They leave with direction, connection, and the belief that sobriety is not only possible but sustainable.

For 20 years, Tallgrass has been providing Recovery that works.
Through the 12 Steps, spiritual awakening, and a community that refuses to give up, people who arrive consumed by fear, isolation, and hopelessness begin to experience freedom, connection, purpose, and a life of service. For two decades, Tallgrass has turned what begins as a desperate search for a way out into something extraordinary: a new freedom, a new happiness, and a life worth living.
Help us celebrate the people, partnerships, and stories that made 20 years of recovery possible.
When: Nov 10th, 2026, 05:30 pm – 08:00 pm (CDT)

*If you are unable to attend the event, there are tables available to purchase to gift to the recovery community.*
*All proceeds support individuals in need who would not otherwise be able to enter the Tallgrass 30-day residential program. Part of the reason our program succeeds is that Tallgrass believes in “skin in the game.” Your gift supports our mission and keeps Tallgrass affordable.*
Clinical research from Harvard Medical School shows that Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) significantly improves long-term recovery outcomes. Compared to other leading therapies, individuals in TSF programs experienced 60–71% higher rates of sustained remission in the first year. Even more compelling, at a 3-year follow-up, abstinence rates were 50% higher among those engaged in Twelve Step–based care.
These results are driven by one key factor: active participation in recovery communities like AA, which has been shown to create lasting behavioral change, stronger support systems, and improved accountability.
At Tallgrass Recovery, our Twelve Step Program approach is designed to connect you with these proven pathways to long-term sobriety—so recovery is not just possible, but sustainable.
