The Residential 12 Step Immersion Program at Tallgrass is the heart of everything we do. This 30 night experience provides a structured, spiritually grounded environment where guests are guided through the 12 steps by people who have lived the journey themselves. It is a place of safety, honesty, and transformation. For many individuals and families, this program becomes the turning point they have been searching for.
Unlike clinical or institutional models, our immersion program focuses on spiritual growth, personal responsibility, and real community. Guests are surrounded by volunteers, mentors, alumni, and staff who understand addiction through lived experience and are committed to helping others find the same freedom they found.
This is not a program about information. It is about transformation.
One on One Mentorship
Every guest is paired with a volunteer mentor who personally guides them through the 12 steps. This relationship forms the foundation for spiritual awakening, personal accountability, and genuine connection.
A Structured Daily Rhythm
Guests participate in meetings, meditation, Big Book study, step work, group discussions, and evening fellowship. This structure creates consistency, stability, and clarity during a crucial time of change.
A Community of People Living in Recovery
Nearly four hundred volunteers, many of them Tallgrass alumni, support guests by sharing their strength, hope, and experience. This creates a sense of belonging that helps guests feel safe enough to go deeper into their recovery.
Spiritual Support
Meditation, reflection, and spiritual principles are woven through every day at Tallgrass. Guests receive clear guidance on how to build a spiritual foundation that sustains long term sobriety.
A Home Like Atmosphere
Tallgrass feels warm, welcoming, and grounded in love and service. Guests often say they felt at home within hours of arriving. This environment allows people to open up, trust the process, and begin healing.
Daily Meetings and Group Work
Guests attend multiple recovery meetings each day. These meetings introduce new ideas, reinforce spiritual principles, and help guests build confidence and connection.
Big Book Study and Step Guidance
Each morning includes group study of the Big Book followed by personal mentorship and discussion. Guests begin to understand the spiritual solution in a clear and practical way.
Community and Fellowship
Meals, downtime, evening meetings, and volunteer interaction help guests feel part of a community that truly supports recovery.
Personal Reflection and Accountability
Daily inventory, evening review, and guided reflection help guests build the habits that support emotional and spiritual growth.
Safe, Supportive Living
The environment at Tallgrass is peaceful, structured, and free from distractions that interfere with healing. Guests are supported at every moment by staff and volunteers who care deeply about their progress.

We offer the same 12 step solution that saved our own lives. Our sobriety rates are significantly higher than the national average. Guests are embraced by people who genuinely care. And the spiritual connection that begins at Tallgrass becomes the foundation for long term sobriety.
When families send their loved one to Tallgrass, they are not sending them to a facility. They are sending them to a community that holds them with love, accountability, and hope.

Clinical research from Harvard Medical School shows that Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) significantly improves long-term recovery outcomes. Compared to other leading therapies, individuals in TSF programs experienced 60–71% higher rates of sustained remission in the first year. Even more compelling, at a 3-year follow-up, abstinence rates were 50% higher among those engaged in Twelve Step–based care.
These results are driven by one key factor: active participation in recovery communities like AA, which has been shown to create lasting behavioral change, stronger support systems, and improved accountability.
At Tallgrass Recovery, our Twelve Step Program approach is designed to connect you with these proven pathways to long-term sobriety—so recovery is not just possible, but sustainable.
